Keep in mind that you help to create demand for the below products and if there is a market for them their production and subsequent environmental health and toxicological hazards will continue, especially given the apparent fact that our government is now of, by, and for the corporations with the FDA and EPA seeming to caiter more to product manufacturers than to the health and well being of the public. We have been brainwashed by advertising to believe that we actually need the below products and we buy, use, and dispose of them carelessly thinking, "the governement is protecting me from any hazards." But in actuallity, with loose regulations and a lack of toxicological research they more protect the corporations' individual rights than they do ours.

The costs involved in purchasing the below household products is much more than the sticker price says. There is a tremendous backend cost in the form of health care for prostate cancer, alzheimers, Parkinson's, lung disease, breast cancer, birth defects, asthma, and autism to name a few. Or how about the costs associated with environmental remediation of thousands of EPA designated Superfund sites (which by the way will now go unremedied anyway thanks to the lack of renewed funding for the Superfund projects by the Bush administration.) The true costs associated with manufacturing the below household products is cast off by the corporations and incurred on the shoulders of the public and at the espense of future generations and the environment.

Yes, yes. I know. There's not much research proving the toxicological effects of multiple interacting chemicals nor the effects of bioaccumulation of them. And who's fault is that? Well, we're all at fault ultimately. Unfortunately, the average Joe only knows what he's told by the few consolidated media sources peddling the mundane teethless evening news in exchange for delivering the eyeballs of millions of oblivious sheep-minded consumers to their corporate advertising partners' well-crafted subliminal messages. And with the mediocre educational system would Mr. Joe understand the implications even if they WERE effectively communicated? It may sound harsh, but the product manufacturer feeds off of the lack of education and misinformation prevalent amoung the American public. It's now a part of our culture's mentality that "oh well everything kills you know a days anyway". It's this ambivalence that the product manufacturer cashes in on with a mind boggling portfolio of ever more toxic brews. If we don't care and are willing to buy it, they surely will continue to encourage us to "drink the coolaide". The manufacturers mix it up by the tanker and TV ads remind us of our thirst and introduce us to all of the new and tasty flavors that we can't live without.

It's obvious how media is in bed with corporations due to the ad dollar relationship. They are on each others boards of directors as are some members of Congress. Thus it's not a stretch to understand that the funder can influence what the fundee brings to the public's attention in the news. This is the same situation that retarded public awareness of the mounting evidence of cigarette smoking's potential long term health hazards during the middle to late twentieth century. A magazine or newspaper isn't going to print an article suggesting evidence of lung cancer from cigarettes when their top ad revenue producer is Phillip Morris. The same abortion of the truth is likely to happen between household product manufacturers and their media ad dollar beneficiaries.

These conflicts of interest have accumulating consequences to our and the environment's health, and unfortunately they may be more common now than ever given the few media sources we now have thanks to corporate M&A activities and a corrupted FCC. There was once thousands of competing media outlets, but now there is only about 6 major dominant media companies who own most of the outlets of our information - internet, tv, radio, and print. No wonder the news barely ever treads into issues dealing with mounting environmental and climatological issues arising as a result of corporate activities. They wouldn't want to negatively impact their bread and butter advertising revenue from the multi-national corporations listed below, now would they?!

So, clearly the fight for the truth isn't a fair one and can't even be classified as a fight. Most of us are lemmings selectively spoon fed engineered information at the mercy of the proverbial industrial-millitary complex which by the way has reached an all time high under the Cronyism of George W. Bush. So lacking effective government representation for and by the people rather than the corporations, what can we do? Well basicly our primary influence is through our consumer descisions. We have to vote with our dollars. Because the truth is so hard to come by due to the current regression in media content, my suggestion is to air on the side of caution and cut the household product manufacturer out of the picture whenever possible. For example, elliminate as many of the below products from your home as is possible.

The internet is a rich sources of recipes for home-made non-toxic alternatives. Many homemade non-toxic products are not only fun, economical, and easy to make, but they are often more effective too. You can break free from corporate America's marketing machine. Turn the tables on their manipulation and vow to starve them of your dollars. Despite what the leaders in Washington tell us, the GDP will be just fine in the end. Other more environmentally conscious countries have proven that. So it actually pays to become part of the growing trend toward environmentally sustainable less toxic products.

But under the current careless system there remains a clear inverse relationship between corporate profits and our quality of life in so far as our health and environment are concerned. This is why the EPA had to be formed in the first place. Remember Dioxin and "Silent Spring", Bhopal, and Love Canal? The corporations have a clear selfish and greedy agenda and must be regulated to prevent uncontrolled pollution. Many studies have proven Corporations to be essentially Psychopathic in all the same aspects as their human killing counterparts. They are consciousless, selfish, emotionless, and do not act in the interest of others, but rather are many times anti-social. So the EPA had to be formed to protect us from them. But what has the EPA done for us lately as compared to the corporations?

Let me just clarify that the above statements are my opinions and are not meant as a blanket accusation of wrongdoing for any of the below manufacturers. As far as I know all the product manufacturers listed below act in accordance with the laws of the states they are incorporated in and conduct business in an ethical manner, as far as their code of conducts and legislation dictate. However, what I am saying is that some legislation may not be in the public's best interest. Likewise, the benefits of using many of the below household products may not out weight the long-term drawbacks to our health and environment. Even if the product manufacturer's directions are followed closely, it is very possible that SOME of these products will still through their manufacture, use, and disposal introduce potentially harmful chemicals into our bodies and environment over time. Thus, it is prudent to work toward elliminating many of the products in the below list whenever possible.
